Tumbling graphics card prices: Nvidia’s high-end GeForces are becoming cheaper

The prices for Nvidia’s GeForce desktop graphics cards have fallen by 25 percent since the beginning of July 2022. This primarily affects the high-end models, above all the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti. While the graphics card cost at least 1890 euros at the beginning of July, manufacturer models are now available from 1400 euros. The slightly slower GeForce RTX 3090 fell in price from 1650 to 1325 euros during the period.

For the first time, the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti fell just below the 1000 euro mark. All three Nvidia models are therefore a good deal below Nvidia’s price recommendations.

This is also due to the market movement in recent months: Crypto mining, such as Ethereum, has suffered a severe setback due to price falls, which is why demand for mining farms has collapsed. The sometimes absurd price expectations from 2021 to early 2022 are simply no longer tenable.

Progress is slower in Nvidia’s middle and entry-level range, where all prices are still above the recommendations. After all: The GeForce RTX 3080, for example, is now available for a little less than 800 euros, the GeForce RTX 3070 for less than 600 euros.

In the case of AMD’s Radeon graphics cards, the price adjustments have been less noticeable in recent weeks. Almost all models are now a few percent cheaper, only the low-end card Radeon RX 6500 XT has recently increased in price again.

The prices of almost all AMD graphics cards are now below the official price recommendations. Only in the upper class is there an imbalance: The Radeon models RX 6800 XT and RX 6800 are still too expensive, while the RX 6900 XT is becoming cheaper and cheaper.
