Test drive Peugeot 3008 GT PACK: a bright car with a bright character
The Peugeot 3008 GT PACK is not a complete novelty. I spoke in detail about the second-generation Peugeot 3008 car back in 2017, and I wrote about the planned update in 2021 using the Peugeot 5008 as an example. But if there is an opportunity, then why not close the issue with the improved Peugeot 3008? More precisely, not one question, but immediately the TOP 5 main questions (and answers) around the updated Peugeot 3008 crossover in the GT PACK version.
Are there many updates in the appearance of the Peugeot 3008?
Outside, all the changes can be counted on the fingers of one hand. New bumper with enlarged side plates – time. Narrower headlights with “fangs” of running lights going down – two. The extended grille, which with its notches goes under these same headlights, is three. Four Claw Effect headlights with thin red marker stripes and “running” direction indicators.
And the fifth point I will name a small block at the top of the radiator grille. The lens of the all-round camera was sheltered there. But another lens can also be located – night vision systems: in fact, this is an infrared camera that looks ahead at a distance of up to 200 meters, can recognize pedestrians and large animals.
Having retained its design as a whole, the car has noticeably changed in detail – the radiator grille and front bumper attract the most attention. The new optics has the function of static cornering light and can work in fog lamp mode. Black GT lettering, tinted lion logos, and dark window surrounds are hallmarks of the Black Pack. And now the updated Peugeot 3008 crossover can optionally be equipped with a night vision system: a real exclusive for this class!

It’s clear on the outside, but what has changed on the inside?
In the cabin, there are even fewer changes. But they are important! Firstly, a 10-inch display appeared: the menu graphics are the same, but the picture has become larger, and the “climate” temperature indicator is constantly on the right / left of the display. Everything is fine. In addition to the very fact of increasing the size and proportional “stretching” of the image from the all-round cameras: it turned out that the larger the picture, the more graininess.
But the second change went only for the good. We are talking about the “Drive Mode” switch (this one appeared on the Peugeot 3008 Hybrid4 even before the update), which brought together all the possible driving settings of the car – sports or eco-mode, settings for different types of off-road. It’s so logical! As well as adding a couple of USB connectors for rear passengers. In a word, the interior of the Peugeot 3008 crossover just became more comfortable in small things…
And all because the interior of the Peugeot 3008 was already good from the very beginning: interesting design, high-quality finishing materials, wooden Lati Wood decor, beautiful seats with delicate Nappa Mistral leather. By the way, the combination of the last two points is a sign of the GT PACK version. Not pretending to be a high-profile premium brand, the interior of the Peugeot 3008 is quite consistent with the premium level. Rear passengers are offered sufficient space, an armrest with cup holders, ventilation deflectors, a pair of USB ports. The trunk is quite decent, and its underground has a soft surface: “small things” will lie quietly.
How does a Peugeot 3008 drive? And what is the GT PACK version?
If you don’t take a completely unique PHEV hybrid (which stands apart – you’ll understand why below), then the GT PACK version is the maximum in the Peugeot 3008 range for Ukraine. In addition to the special interior trim, extended equipment, and the obligatory Black Pack package, such a car stands out with an important technical difference – it has a 180-horsepower engine.
A powerful turbodiesel in a midsize car always bode well. For example, excellent acceleration on the go: the case when the 2-liter engine does not make you look for the promised torque of 400 Nm – it demonstrates everything at once, at the first request from the accelerator pedal.
Only when starting from a place is a slight pause noticeable: until the engine picks up speed, until the turbine blows. But after a moment and when a mark of at least 1.5 thousand appears on the tachometer, the fun begins! Which does not subside up to 4 thousand: the turbodiesel is excellent in the middle speed zone. Better than it can only be an 8-speed “automatic” Aisin, which switches up / down instantly and imperceptibly. Although no – not better, but at the level. This couple, where each partner is worthy of the second; and together they set a high class.
Same as the running gear. EMP2 platform, front independent suspension, but semi-independent rear. This is problem? The Peugeot 3008 crossover proves with its own example that “no”: only true masters (and fanatics!) of their craft could skillfully adjust the balance of comfort and handling in such a way. While rolling on bad roads, the Peugeot 3008 crossover demonstrates softness and peace. But when rushing into corners, it responds vividly to the turns of a small steering wheel, so precisely saturated (but not overweighted) with reverse force. Just shine!
And then there are two interesting observations. Firstly, the Peugeot 3008 and Peugeot 5008 ride a little differently: the “older” brother is really good for its class and size, but it is the 3008 that turns every trip into a small driver’s holiday. Secondly, carefully choose good tires for the Peugeot 3008 – this noticeably changes the perception of the car, and the refined driving character of the 3008 deserves attention.
The turbodiesel and 8-speed “automatic” understand each other perfectly, and the chassis gives an excellent balance of comfort and handling. In the “sport” mode (there are also off-road modes), the dashboard turns red, the box keeps the gears lower, the reactions to the accelerator pedal become aggravated, and a synthesized low-frequency roar “flows” from the speakers of the audio system. Sometimes it seems like it’s too much. But if we talk about 15-20 minutes of drive to “let off steam”, then the Peugeot 3008 crossover will be the best partner in this. And then it’s not so important that it really takes about 9 seconds to accelerate to “hundreds” – but there are a lot of emotions and impressions! True, you have to pay for an active drive with consumption: in the city it is stable 8-9 liters per 100 km of track, on the highway at a speed of 90-120 km / h – consumption is 5-6 liters per 100 km of track.
How much does a Peugeot 3008 crossover cost in different versions?
The Peugeot 3008 crossover line for Ukraine is built in such a way that it is based on 1.5-liter and 2-liter diesel versions (130/150/180 hp), and always with an 8-speed automatic transmission and initially good equipment. For example…
The range of the Peugeot 3008 model is opened by the ACTIVE PACK package: front and side airbags, curtain airbags, cruise control, ABS and ESP systems, heated front seats, 2-zone climate control, Eco LED headlights, Peugeot i-Cockpit c 12 interior, 3-inch display, 8-inch touchscreen display, 17-inch alloy wheels, etc. car price Peugeot 3008 1.5 BlueHDi 130 S&S automatic transmission-8 ACTIVE PACK – from UAH 1.14 million. or $28.5 thousand; car price Peugeot 3008 2.0 HDi 150 automatic transmission-8 ACTIVE PACK – from UAH 1.17 million. or $29 thousand.
The next step is the ALLURE PACK version, which adds: Grip Control system, Keyless Access, Colyn fabric upholstery in combination with leather, Full LED headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels. car price Peugeot 3008 2.0 HDi 150 automatic transmission-8 ALLURE PACK – from UAH 1.26 million. or $31.5 thousand
At a higher level, the GT version is positioned, which additionally offers: a Driver Sport Pack package, monitoring of “blind spots” of rear-view mirrors, a power tailgate, AGR front seats with power settings and back massage, a central 10-inch display, wireless smartphone charging. car price Peugeot 3008 2.0 HDi 150 automatic transmission-8 GT – from UAH 1.4 million. or $35 thousand.
Finally, even higher is the GT PACK variant: Active Cruise, Lane Keeping Assist, Adaptive High Beam, Traffic Sign Recognition, 360 View Cameras, Lati Wood and Nappa Mistral Leather trim, FOCAL audio, Black Pack package. Price Peugeot 3008 2.0 BlueHDi 180 S&S automatic transmission-8 GT PACK – from UAH 1.7 million. or $42.5 thousand.
The maximum version of the Peugeot 3008 GT PACK is a 180-horsepower engine, the aforementioned 10-inch display, all-round visibility, massage seats, a panoramic glass sunroof. Double side windows provide better sound isolation – important for music lovers who want to listen to the FOCAL audio system (standard on the GT PACK and optional on the GT). But the interior concept of the Peugeot i-Cockpit and a dashboard based on a 12.3-inch display is the standard for absolutely all versions of the Peugeot 3008.
But there is also the Peugeot 3008 Hybrid4: a plug-in hybrid, a gasoline turbo engine and two electric motors, a 13.2 kWh battery, 300 hp. and four-wheel drive, rear independent suspension, only the top of the range GT PACK. Peugeot believes that this is a sufficient list to justify the price tag of UAH 2.2-2.3 million. or $55-58 thousand.
It turns out that at the moment it is the Peugeot 3008 Hybrid4 that is the most expensive and technologically advanced car in the line of SUV models of the brand. Which, let me remind you, in general, has three models: Peugeot 2008, Peugeot 3008, Peugeot 5008.
Maxim Solovyov, founder of the company Drivovo: “We tested different Peugeot cars when we selected them for our Drivovo service. As a result, we came to the conclusion that today Peugeot cars offer a lot for their money – modern models, a wide range of functions, high-quality materials, excellent driving performance. And here is the second result – now all three models of Peugeot crossovers are presented in the Drivovo service. The most compact Peugeot 2008 crossover is chosen for the city: it’s like the 208, but with a more spacious interior and increased ground clearance, plus a futuristic design. The Peugeot 3008 mid-range crossover attracts with an excellent diesel engine and premium equipment for a very reasonable price. Finally, in our service there is also a large 7-seater crossover Peugeot 5008 – such a car was ordered by a family with three children: a spacious interior with wide possibilities for transformation and seating of people was important to them.
In summary: what is Peugeot 3008 for Ukrainian buyers?
The Peugeot 3008 crossover is still the choice of aesthetes, not pragmatists. For those to whom refined driving performance is more important than the mandatory all-wheel drive “to be”. For those to whom informal design and original interior are more important than the average opinions of others. For those to whom a good package is more important than a nominally low starting price. I am glad that there are a lot of such people in Ukraine – it is proved by sales of Peugeot 3008.
