Internal Server Error 500 – WPML

nataschaB-2

I’m trying:
After the last WPML update, I keep getting the Internal Server Error 500 in the WordPress backend. I deactivated all other plugins to test whether it was another plugin. It seems to come from WPML though. As soon as I activate sitepress-multilingual-cms.4.2.5 I get an internal server error in the backend, especially on the /wp-admin/plugins.php page and I can’t install any new plugins either. I have already deleted the folders on the server, installed the latest versions. The WordPress Base URL is also the same as the WordPress URL and I have:
define(‘WP_DEBUG’, true);
define( ‘WP_DEBUG_LOG’, true );
define(‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ‘256M’);
define( ‘WP_MAX_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ‘256M’ );

Added all this to my wp-config.php…
I can’t think of any more right now.

Hi,

Thank you for contacting WPML support. I am going to reply this in English, if you still need German support please let me know.

/wp-admin/plugins.php and I can’t install any new plugins.

Sorry for the trouble, this Plugins page issue has been escalated to our 2nd tier support for further review. In the meantime we were able to find a workaround, please try below steps:

1. Activate latest WPML plugin.
2. Go to Dashboard -> Updates
3. Press the “Check again” button
4. Scroll to the bottom and press the “Update” button
5. Go to the Plugins page.

Let me know if this solved the issue. Thank you

Dear Noman, as I already mentioned: after activating the plugin I can not go to the update section or anything else as I receive the Internal Server Error. My Plugin is by the way the current version as I downloaded it yesterday…

Hi,

To take a closer look on this issue, please provide temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP Login info) to your site (preferably staging site), so that I can look into your setup and debug the issue.

Your next answer will be private which means only you and I have access to it.

=== Please backup your database and website ===

✙ I would additionally need your permission to de-activate and re-activate Plugins and the Theme, and to change configurations on the site. This is also a reason the backup is really important.

Thank you

Hello, my name is Alejandro,

Since Noman is currently not available, I will replace him here in the forum.

I hope this is OK with you.

I did what Noman recommended but then I noticed something. you had a memory limit of -1 which is most likely the cause of your problem.

I went ahead and checked your wp-config.php file and noticed that the code was alright so why would this happen?

I believe your current hosting doesn’t allow you to have that quantity of memory on your plan, so could you please go to your hosting support and ask for an increase of memory?

then please go to WPML > Support and check the value of the “Memory limit” parameter, which is under “PHP” section and see if it changed.

Le me know how it goes.

Dear Support,
I changed the PHP Memory Limit like the provider advised me to. I still receive the Internal Server Error 500 when trying to activate the WPML….

I sent you credentials to a different server, because at this point I’d like to rule out the server as the problem.

Migrate the site and when it’s done try to access it with the same credentials and see if the problem is still there in the new server.

Let me know how it goes so I can check as well.
