DebConf back in attendance: Debian community meets in Kosovo

DebConf 22 has begun: For the first time again, the community around the Linux distribution Debian meets at the annual conference in Prizren in Kosovo. The event runs until next Sunday.

Even if the much-touted hallway track, which the events of the last pandemic years have clearly shown, can hardly be reproduced: Lectures are also suitable for virtual participation. Accordingly, the organizers broadcast most of the presentations from the five tracks of the well-filled conference program.

On the rather unusual venue: Debian makes the process of location allocation for its community conferences public. Potential organizational teams can use a checklist to apply to host the event. Apparently the application from Kosovo was the most convincing for the presence comeback.

DebConf 22 will take place until July 24th. It is not yet known how many Debian enthusiasts have actually made the journey to Kosovo. Around 380 people are said to have attended the last face-to-face conference in Curitiba, Brazil, in 2019. In Germany, DebConf took place for the first and last time in 2015 in Heidelberg.
