The WordPress content management system dominates the CMS market by a long way: The former blogging software has long since established itself beyond this niche and is used on almost every second website. The complexity of the software grew with the area of application. There are numerous tutorials, help and tips for administrators and users on the Internet, thanks to the wide distribution. But that doesn’t necessarily make things easier: Because not every source is up-to-date and suitable for the version of WordPress used. In addition, some of the alleged “best practices” were simply never good and certainly not “best”. It can be difficult for newcomers and career changers to find what they are looking for, not overlook what is important and what is outdated or just plain wrong.
The c’t workshop “WordPress for Beginners” offers a fundamental and well-founded induction into the current version of the CMS by a recognized expert. You can use it to gain practical experience with the CMS under competent guidance. It is aimed at anyone who wants or needs to get to grips with the system for the first time. Be it because you want to take responsibility for a WordPress site, migrate an existing website to WordPress or set up a completely new site with the CMS.
In several sections, the practice-oriented workshop covers everything from the installation of the system, through everyday and less everyday work with and on the CMS to the expansion of WordPress with plug-ins and what you have to pay attention to. The participants follow each section directly in the workshop on test systems and thus reinforce what they have learned. In case of problems, help is immediately available.
The workshop will take place online on February 24, 2022 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is already almost sold out. Grab one of the last places now, all you need is a current browser. Further information on the event and details on how to register can be found on the heise events workshop page. (syt)
